Chemical peels are generally thought of as a treatment for wrinkles. However, they are beneficial for all skin types, tones and ages to improve skin health and resilience. Peels are an excellent treatment to restore skin health and appearance at any time of the year. However, peels are very helpful during autumn and winter where the cold weather and wind takes it toll on our skin.
We use AlumierMD peels, one of only a small number of clinics in Cheltenham to offer these types of chemical peel. AlumierMD peels cause a chemical exfoliation in the superficial to medium skin depth using a gentle, progressive approach. This delivers the results of a much deeper peel without the irritation, downtime and heavy flaking.

How does a chemical peel work?
A peel helps to improve the skin in several ways. As the acid penetrates the top layer of skin, the bonds that hold the skin cells together are broken down. This encourages the this layer of skin to come away slowly, revealing brighter, smoother, tighter and clearer skin underneath. During this increased cell turnover period, more, moisture, collagen and elastin are produced.
How long do the results of a peel last?
The pathway to beautiful skin takes time. Whilst a single peel will give you a lovely instant glow that may last a few weeks, it takes considerably longer to address acne, scarring, ageing and deeper, textural concerns.
A course of 3 to 6 peels is recommended, combined with an AlumierMD homecare routine to enhance your results by up to 50% and maintain the long-term health of your skin after the treatment phase.
Are chemical peels painful?
Some mild irritation, itching or sensation of heat is sometimes felt during the procedure. This wears off very quickly as the peel is neutralised. Your skin may feel dry and mildly flaky for up to 7 days after a peel as the top layer of skin is gently shed.
