What is Botox? â€‹

Botox injections temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. By reducing movement in these areas, Botox softens the appearance of dynamic wrinkles such as:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows, often referred to as '11 lines'

  • Forehead lines, the horizontal lines that appear when we lift our brows or look surprised.

  • Crow's feet around the eyes.

It's one of the most popular anti-ageing treatments worldwide, loved for its quick results and minimal downtime. More advanced botox treatments are also offered at the clinic to address issues such as a gummy smile, dimpled chin, downturned mouth and to lift a sagging neck. Beyond aesthetics, it provides significant relief for issues like jaw clenching and excessive sweating (medical term-Hyperhydrosis), and can even smooth the subtle bunny lines on the nose. This incredible versatility makes Botox a cornerstone of modern medical aesthetics, all while maintaining our core principle of delivering subtle, natural-looking results that enhance your unique features.

Botox Frequently Asked Questions

Am I Suitable for Botox?

Botox is suitable for most people of all genders who have started to experience lines in their face caused by ageing. For some this can appear as early as the mid twenties, but for most people, they will start to see these lines appearing in their 30s and beyond. I do not recommend 'preventative botox' for people in their teens or twenties that are not starting to see signs of ageing as this is simply not necessary.

Can I have Botox if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Botox is not suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. You must be over 18 to have botox treatment, this is a legal requirement in the UK. Your individual anatomy is assessed during a consultation with a Nurse Prescriber to decide your suitability for treatment. Botox cannot be given if you have Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton Lambert's Syndrome. There are some medications that interact with Botox also, your practitioner will assess this during your consultation.

Can anyone inject Botox?

There is currently no law in the UK to control who administers Botox in the UK or any regulation for the level of training provided. However, Botox is a prescription only drug, and therefore must be prescribed by a medical professional and the product ordered in for each person. All medical governing bodies, eg the NMC, GMC or GPhC stipulate that is it mandatory that you receive a face to consultation (not video call) with the prescriber before a prescription can be written for cosmetic treatments.

How long does botox last?

The results of your botox treatment are not permanent, which is what makes it such a popular and low-commitment option for facial rejuvenation. You can typically expect your smoother appearance to last between 3 to 4 months. As the muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles will begin to reappear, though often they are less severe than before. Many of our clients find that with regular treatments, the results last longer over time.

Is botox painful?

Most people worry that botox about how much botox will hurt before they come for treatment. The procedure involves very fine needles, so any discomfort is minimal and brief, often described as a tiny pinch. The appointment is quick, usually taking no more than 15-20 minutes from start to finish, making it an easy addition to your lunch break. There is no downtime needed for botox, so you can return to your normal activities immediately afterward.
